Mixx is one of those things where you don't really know if you like it too much at first, but then the more you play around with it, the more you like it.
As you know, I created several ning sites, and they have become a bit much to handle. I try to keep fresh stuff on the front page, but that takes a lot of time, so...
I started a bunch of groups on mixx, and then used the RSS feed from them to put new stuff on the front page of my ning sites.
This is really handy when I find something that could go into several ning sites. For example, this video could fit on war_piggs and impolite_conversation
So instead of choosing one over the other, or spending entirely too much time putting them on both, I could submit this video to mixx, and put it in the mixx_group_warpiggs and the mixx_group_impolite_conversation
If you want a quick way to build a big database for concealed carry, both on ning and on mixx this would be worth a hard look
Now if mixx just offered a widget with remote voting and one-click-to-content links, we would be set!
